Fundraising - CESCI supports the Spinal Injuries Association

Fundraising together: CESCI and the Spinal Injuries Association
We're proud to announce that CESCI (Cauda Equina Spinal Cord Injury) is working in partnership with the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), and today we're launching our own fundraising campaign: CESCI supports SIA.
The aim is simple. Together, we want to make sure more people affected by Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) get the support they need, when they need it. And we'd love you to be part of it.
Why this matters
Every two hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. The latest figures show around 105,000 people are now living with spinal cord injury in the UK – almost twice as many as previously thought. The Spinal Injuries Association works to reach every one of them, and to connect them and their families with the help they need to live a full life.
Cauda Equina Syndrome is part of that picture. It happens when the nerves at the base of the spine are compressed, and it can change a life in an instant.
That's what happened to Phil. In September 2020, he developed CES after picking up a small piece of wood. He lost movement from the waist down and now uses a wheelchair. He couldn't return to work or keep coaching his children's rugby teams, he lost much of his social life, and his mental health suffered badly. As Phil puts it, he simply couldn't believe something so small could do so much damage.
Phil's story is one many of our community will recognise. It's why support from people who understand matters so much.
Why CESCI is backing SIA

SIA has been a valued partner of ours for some time. This year we've joined their community meet-ups, and CESCI was featured in SIA's Forward magazine, helping put Cauda Equina Syndrome in the spotlight.
SIA offers peer support, advice and specialist information to people living with spinal cord injury, including many people with CES. Every pound raised through our campaign helps SIA reach more people like Phil, sooner, and helps make sure nobody affected by CES has to face it alone.
How you can help
There are three easy ways to get involved:
Donate. Any amount makes a difference. Give directly through our campaign page: Donate to CESCI supports SIA. If you're a UK taxpayer, tick the Gift Aid box and your donation goes 25% further at no extra cost to you.
Fundraise. Set up your own JustGiving page linked to our campaign – a sponsored walk or wheel, a bake sale, a quiz night, a challenge of your choice. It takes a couple of minutes: Start fundraising.
Share. Pass this post on to friends, family and colleagues, and share the campaign on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Every share helps raise awareness of CES as well as funds.
If you're planning a fundraiser, let us know, we'd love to cheer you on and share your story.
Thank you
To everyone who has already given, thank you. Your generosity means more people affected by Cauda Equina Syndrome will get the understanding and support they deserve.
Together, we can make sure that no one living with CES feels alone.
