The Cauda Equina Syndrome Survey: Our Findings
By Bolt Burdon Kemp
Earlier this year the Spinal Injury Team at Bolt Burdon Kemp conducted two separate studies looking at the perceptions of CES and treatment. The first sought the views of medical professionals treating CES, and the second sought the views of those with CES.
The findings from their study shed light on the difficulties faced by patients and in particular the impact a lack of specialist support can have. For patients who are not treated in specialised spinal cord injury centres, 65% felt that their GPs did not understand or support their condition.
Their study findings highlight the urgent need for enhanced training for GPs and access to rehabilitation for CES patients. By addressing these issues, we aim to provide hope and a better quality of life to those affected by this life-altering condition.
